Ozaukee Winter Seasonal Tournament Feb. 2 (G/45)

ORCA will hold its Winter Seasonal tournament on Saturday, February 2, 2013 in Mequon, WI.  Format is a 4-round Swiss System with a G/45, d/5 time control.  The results will be dual-rated.  Entry fee is only $15 (payable at site).  Register before January 30, 2013 and save $3: admin@orcachess.org

SITE REGISTRATION: 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM.
ENTRY FEE: $15 (both sections $3 less if registered before January 30, 2013). $2 discount for ORCA members. Cash or check only.  Make checks payable to “Ozaukee Regional Chess Association” or "ORCA".
USCF MEMBERSHIP: Required (payable at site). For more information, go to www.uschess.org.
FORMAT: Four Round Swiss System - Four Games in One Day -- USCF dual-rated (USCF Membership Required). USCF rules apply (clock, touch-move, notation, etc.)
TIME CONTROL: G/45, D/5 (each player has 45 minutes to complete the game).
Digital clocks preferred: Set at G/45 with a 5-second delay.
Analog clocks: Set at 45 minutes.
TWO SECTIONS: Open and Reserve (U1500)
DUAL-RATED: Results will affect your Regular and Quick USCF ratings.
PRIZES: Cash prizes to 1st and 2nd place in each section based on number of entries.
LOCATION: First floor fellowship hall at Christ Church.

If you think you will be coming, please send an email to let us know in advance, even if you don't meet the deadline for the early registration discount.  It will simplify the registration process on the day of the tournament.

January 2013 "G/30" Quads

Congratulations to Joe Hernandez who won our January 10 "mini tournament" with a perfect 3-0 score!  Bob Bruch took second place with 2.5 points.   A total of 10 players turned out on a school night and competed in one section.  Tom Hudson was the TD.

The tournament was played with a G/25, d/5 time control, which led to some exciting finishes.

Since ORCA was formed in 2010, a total of 101 different players have participated in at least one of our USCF-rated tournaments. (stats).

Alan Buschmann Wins 2012 ORCA Grand Prix

Congratulations to Al Buschmann (pictured on right) for winning ORCA's 2012 Grand Prix, which rewards both performance and participation in ORCA-sponsored tournaments. Al received a plaque and a gift certificate for his accomplishment.
